Welcome to the homeBBBrew board!
Like the BBB, the homeBBBrew board is not a club, just a place to talk about making beer. Is there a swap you would like to see happen? If we can find a few others who have something similar then lets do it!

Funky swap - Group I tasting

I can do all weeknights, something could come up for one night next week but I'll know for sure by tomorrow morning.

I forgot that I'm moving next week. I'll be busy Friday night, and Thursday night probably isn't good either. Monday anyone?

Re: Funky swap - Group I tasting
I could do Sunday. We are spread out more than the other group time zone-wise, Sunday could offer more flexibility regarding start time.

Hey gang, tonight at 7:30 EST - just a reminder! You two central guys, we'll see you at 6:30. I predict that when you are done you'll be asking yourself if you have time to brew to get into a Trappist swap!

Can't wait.

February is turning into quite the month for me, NHC registration today in my home city, my first Babble Belt swap/tasting and Belgium on the 21st!

Re: Funky swap - Group I tasting
Just Brussels, and just for 3 days?!?! Wish I could go for longer but thats how it goes sometimes. I may have to hit you up for some tips, I have a lot of suggestions from other travelers but this is the place to go right?

Its going to be a beer centric trip, but its a bachelor party so there may be some douche baggery. :|

Gabe - oh no! We were fine, i just popped in to thank everyone. It was just like the last one, a line up of really, really solid beers. I think Al has made a big difference in the funky brewing crowd.

Coff, are you up for a train ride?

Re: Funky swap - Group I tasting
I am opened to a train ride, depending on how long it is since we are only going to be there for 3 days we dont want to do a ton of extra travelling. What do you have in mind? I am going to post something "across the street" as you said last night.

One thing I recommend for these swaps is maybe assigning a note taker. Someone who can jot down some tasting notes from the crowd and themselves and post some of the highlights the next day. There was some very good info being tossed around last night that I think could be beneficial to other brewers not in the swap. Just my 2 cents.

Re: Funky swap - Group I tasting
For the train ride, keep in mind how tiny the country is - nothing is that far away. I go on and on about Brugse, understanding my tastes are not everyone's I could not imagine going to Belgium and not taking time to go there. It's an hour from Brussels (give or take a few minutes depending on the actual station), and Gent is on the way. Some prefer Gent as it is justifiably definable as a proper city where Brugse is a 12th century living museum. Plus t' Brugs Beertje is there.

The only way to take notes with this freeware is to actually re-key, the real answer there is if we are looking at really using the chatroom more to upgrade. Its not that expensive for a year and you get full transcripts. Here's an example:

Re: Funky swap - Group I tasting
That would be nice, but even if there was a follow up thread where everyone posted some of their tasting notes would be good.

I have gone back and read that Brett E-symposium quite a bit in the past.
