Welcome to the homeBBBrew board!
Like the BBB, the homeBBBrew board is not a club, just a place to talk about making beer. Is there a swap you would like to see happen? If we can find a few others who have something similar then lets do it!

I just really like the work levifunk is doing!

Help plan a Fantome beer!
This is a project for the other board, might be one peeps here would enjoy though. Dany from Fantome has offered to make us a beer, and to my surprise there is time to make this a Halloween beer. We get to decide the odd ingredients, like spices, that he'd use. Couldn't hurt getting home brewers involved. If you're interested in participating, please post your comments on the other board.

Re: Help plan a Fantome beer!
How about a "scary" ingredient, like sorrel "The plant's sharp taste is due to oxalic acid, which is a poison. In small quantities sorrel is harmless; in large quantities it can be fatal." - Wikipedia

Here in DC, Bluejacket is planning a saison with it. There are probably other plants that could be a bit concerning, but in fact are safe.

This is probably a bad suggestion, right?

I wonder how long that acid would stay in the wort with calcium in the solution. have a feeling it may drop out pretty quickly, a la kidney stones...just a thought

Re: Oxalic Acid
I would be interested in how the Sorrel beers turn out. Oxalic acid kills fungi and yeast in some concentrations.
