Just a Reminder about the MHTG (Madison Homebrewers and Tasters Guild) Franco-Belgian Challenge November 7th 2009 (deadline for submission- October 30th 2009)

The dubbel used a high proportion of dark 1 and 2 liquid candi syrup. It also used some carafa grains to increase the dark color and mild dark notes as well.

Its a recipe I've refined for the last 6 or 7 yrs with a batch every year or so with tweaks to the yeast choice and dark grain amounts and sugar used.
