Welcome to the homeBBBrew board!
Like the BBB, the homeBBBrew board is not a club, just a place to talk about making beer. Is there a swap you would like to see happen? If we can find a few others who have something similar then lets do it!

I just really like the work levifunk is doing!

Night of the Funk (NYC)
Hey Everybody,

This is a pretty big heads-up, but I'm planning on designating the September 16th meeting of the NYC Homebrewers Guild as the "Night of the Funk".

If any of you Babblers would are in the area and would like to join us and share some homebrewed Funky beers, we'd love to have you.

Hey Babblers,

It’s official, Tuesday, September 16th is going to be the NYC Homebrewers Guild’s first annual “Night of the Funk”. Yeah I accidentally stole the name from an already existing beer event, but who cares!?

I’d like to invite any homebrewers who might be able to make it to NYC for the night to come on down and share your sour and funky brews with us. I think it’s going to be a really good time. John Watson is going to be our official guest speaker. He brews a lot of the barrel aged and funky stuff. He just took 2 gold medals at the NHC this year, one of which was for a Berlinner Weisse fermented with cherries. I tasted it, and it’s damn good! I think we can also have some floor time for anyone else who wants to share some of their wisdom.

We meet at Burp Castle (E. 7th St. and 2nd Ave.) in Manhattan at 7:30. Please RSVP if you’d like to come, and if you need any more info on the event.

Re: Night of the Funk (NYC)
Sean, I will pencil this in too and try to make it. I have a couple of things I could bring. . . altough they technically fall under the category of "mistakes" mostly, I am surprised by the number of people who actually find them drinkable. Iron stomachs, some of these "puckerheads" have . . .

Re: Night of the Funk (NYC)
OK, so I am on board to come tonight . . . do I have to do anything in particular or is it OK to just show up? I was planning to bring:

A 6-year old "lambic-ish" attempt with various berries, which, frankly, became to acetic for me. Some might enjoy, or at least use it as a cautionary tale.

A 3-year old sour Belgian pale ale kind of thing (began as a Saison Dupont clone attempt, but Fantome in the primary took it in a whole different direction).

An 1.5-year old Orval-inspired beer finished with cultured-up dregs of same. Worked out OK.

No it's cool, just come on up!

W'ell see you there.

I'm bringing a Berlinner, and a Brett Belgian with oak, which doesn't have a ton of brett character, but it's very nice.

Unfortunately my Flanders and my Deliverance Kentucky Sour are still months from being done.
